Check Out Our Year in Review

Dear Friends,

This year we celebrated Keep Virginia Beautiful’s 70th anniversary.  While much has changed in the Commonwealth (and in the world!) over the past 70 years, our longstanding commitment to improving Virginia’s natural and scenic environment has remained steady.

An anniversary is a good time to reflect on your roots and past accomplishments; appreciate the present moment and double down on your work; and plan for the future and how to best achieve your mission.  This year we celebrated “memorable moments” in our history; expanded existing successful programs and launched key new initiatives; and we plan to sustain and grow our efforts to reduce litter, encourage recycling, and promote community beautification next year and beyond.

We hope you will take a moment to enjoy our “Year in Review” of all we accomplished together in 2023.

Our 70-year journey has brought us to where we are today, and we are so grateful for all those who have contributed to our shared vision of a clean and green Virginia along the way.  We thank our partners, funders, Board, staff, local affiliates, and volunteers, plus all others who contribute their time and talents to help make our state a beautiful place to live, work, and play.  Our shared passion to keep Virginia beautiful is a thread that unites our past, present, and future.

“Keep” is an active verb, requiring continuous action.   Virginia is a place that belongs to all of us now and to generations not yet born.  In this regard, we are all stewards of both the present and the future.  Whether it is the positive impact of individual efforts or the power of collective action, our work may never be “done”, but it also provides common ground that brings people from all walks of life together in a meaningful, shared purpose.

From Virginia’s coastlines, to its mountains, and communities everywhere in between, we are excited to keep doing more beautiful things together next year!  Thank you for being on this journey with us!  We wish you a Happy New Year, and we look forward to more opportunities to collaborate in 2024 to give special care and attention to the beautiful place we all call home.

In partnership,

Cristi Lawton
