Shiver in the River Is Growing by Leaps and Bounds!

Thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday — Leap Day! — to Shiver in the River, RVA’s coolest Winter Festival!

We had 661 people sign up to start the day off with the Community Cleanup, and they picked up 1,782 pounds of trash and 451 pounds recycling.  That’s over ONE TON of litter and recyclables that would have been left in the landscape, and most likely end up in the James River.

575 people registered for the 5K run, and 218 people braved the chilly weather to LEAP into the James River!  The festival continued with food trucks, kids games, vendors who care about sustainability, terrific live music, and fun all around!  It was a great Leap Day, and a huge success.  We’re still accepting donations, and you can still earn incentives.  We will post the results soon to reveal how much money we raised to support our programs and initiatives.

If you participated in the 5K race, you can find the posted results here.  Thank you Richmond Road Runners Club for all your help with the race!

Thank you to our sponsors, vendors, and everyone who came out for our best Shiver in the River yet!  Check out these pictures, and share yours on social media with us too!
