This is the fourth tree planting for the Swansboro West Civic Association and Richmond Tree Stewards in the Swansboro West neighborhood. They received a Neighborhood Climate and Resilience Grant to plant a total of 100 trees in Swansboro West, which is a heat island due to its lack of trees. Each planting event plants about ten new trees. This planting will be focused on East 35th Street, which once had beautiful trees in both sides of the street, but now has almost no trees. We will be meeting at the intersection of East 35th Street and McLennan Street. It is also Earth Day weekend so to celebrate, we invite everyone to come join us for this event, which will be our last before our summer break when it is too hot to plant trees.
