Thursdays during the month of July, Bear Creek Lake State Park will host a craft themed on plants grown to support wildlife. Join a ranger for a talk about growing more nesting birds with birdhouse gourds while exploring the fascinating world of gourds and their history. After the talk, participants will clean and paint their very own gourd to take home to hang for a bird in their neighborhood. Fee of $2 per person. Supplies are limited and advance registration at the office is required either in person or by emailing [email protected]. If supplies of gourds are no longer available, the program craft will shift to seed starting by making a seed pot out of newspaper. Participants will take home a seed to grow their own birdhouse gourds at home.
