New Executive Director Named for Keep Virginia Beautiful

Cristi LawtonWe’re excited to announce that Christine Lawton has been named as the new Executive Director for Keep Virginia Beautiful!  Cristi has over two decades of work experience in public service and nonprofit organizations.  She previously served as an executive director of two organizations, in addition to positions in fund development and planning.  Cristi holds a master’s degree in Urban & Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia.

Cristi’s hiring comes as KVB is implementing a strategic plan designed to enhance programs, increase fund development and community outreach, and improve and expand partnerships.  She brings passion and organization to KVB as we move to the next level.

“There is much potential to build upon KVB’s solid foundation, and we are thrilled to have Cristi lead us in the next phase of our growth,” said Tad Phillips, Board Chairperson.  “Cristi is a positive and energetic leader. “

The Board of Directors and staff are looking forward to the new direction.  “I am honored to help lead Keep Virginia Beautiful and appreciate the Board’s confidence in me,” Lawton said.  “I am excited to join them, the hardworking and talented staff, and the many dedicated partners, stakeholders, and volunteers who make this work possible.  KVB brings people from all walks of life together in partnership, with a shared purpose and responsibility for environmental stewardship.  I am deeply inspired by the individual and collective actions we can all take that have such a profound positive impact for the places we call home — and to keep them clean and beautiful for generations to come.”

Keep Virginia Beautiful has much to look forward to, including continued work with VDOT’s Adopt-a-Highway program, the Great American Cleanup and Green Grants programs next spring, as well as ongoing support for individuals and businesses who need cleanup equipment and cigarette butt receptacles.

We welcome Cristi, and are happy to have her join our team!
