Elizabeth Davis Middle Gets Thirty in 30 Seed Money

Elizabeth Davis Middle School in Chester, Virginia is a very young school that would like to plant some roots.  Their past garden projects have not done well and after some investigating they discovered that poor soil quality throughout the school property hinders their efforts.  They have requested a grant to nourish their garden’s soil and infiltrate it with nutrients as well as find its pH balance.  Additionally, they plan to use funding to purchase flowers and vegetables for a late summer planting and a fall harvest.  Elizabeth Davis Middle School believes that by nourishing their soil, they will in turn nourish the minds of the students by giving them a place to learn, write, dream, and eat!

We are honored to award Elizabeth Davis Middle School today’s Thirty in 30 Grant of $500 in the Beautification Category.  Our Thirty in 30 Grant Program focuses greater resources and attention on organizations and individual localities throughout the Commonwealth and how they are addressing the issues of litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, beautification and education.  We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of (30) grants of $500 in three different categories:  Beautification, Litter Prevention, and Recycling.  These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Home Improvement and your generous donations.
