LOVE VA is Keep Virginia Beautiful’s annual fall campaign — two months when Virginians across the Commonwealth come together to clean up, beautify, recycle and care for the places we call home.

You don’t need a huge project or a hundred volunteers to make a difference.

Pick up a block. Plant a garden. Clean up a park. Organize a recycling drive. Gather your coworkers. Take your family outside.

Big or small, every beautiful act counts.

Pick up litter in your neighborhood, along a roadway or waterway, at a park, trail, school, business or anywhere else that could use a little love.

🌱 BEAUTIFY IT.

Plant trees or flowers. Create pollinator habitat. Spruce up a playground. Work in a community garden. Restore a neglected space.

♻️ RECYCLE IT.

Host a recycling drive. Collect hard-to-recycle materials. Reduce waste. Help your community recycle right — and celebrate America Recycles Day with us on November 15.

Do one. Do all three. Just do something good for Virginia.

We’re kicking off LOVE VA with some very special cleanup partners!

Join Keep Virginia Beautiful and the Richmond SPCA for a neighborhood cleanup alongside adoptable Richmond SPCA pups. We’ll provide the cleanup supplies — you provide the walking shoes and helping hands.

: "Legacy Litter" is trash that often starts as illegal dumping and is simply never, ever cleaned up, thus becoming a part of the landscape until it decomposes.

: There are 290 million tires discarded in landfills every year, and it takes approximately 50-80+ years for one to decompose.

: Most marine debris starts on land and is transported to streams and other bodies of water through rain and wind events.

: While the wind can unfortunately spread litter, it is also critical to the wildflowers that count on pollinators and breezes to help "spread" their pollen far and wide!

: Illegal dumping is a serious, serial problem that is hard to eradicate given the secretive nature of this activity in hard to reach places.

: Cigarette litter can do way more harm and damage than ever intended when lit butts are tossed carelessly in nature. Join us in recognizing Fire Prevention Month during October!

: 200,000 crashes are caused by debris on U.S. roadways since 2019.
