Middlesex County gets Creative with Thirty in 30 Grant
Middlesex County has been awarded a $500 Thirty in 30 Grant in the Litter Prevention Category!
The County plans to engage its middle and high schools students to design a sign that encourages community pride and sustainable litter prevention. Middlesex has already gained the backing of the Department of Environmental Quality through its litter prevention fund for this unique project. They not only plan to use permanent litter prevention signage, but also temporary signage. Their idea is to use these temporary signs to indicate to the public that an area or strip of roadway has just been cleared of litter, so why not keep it beautiful!?!? We are more than happy to award Middlesex County a $500 grant for their incorporation of government partners, student engagement, and unique approach to solve their litter issues.
We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of thirty grants of $500 in three different categories: Beautification, Litter Prevention, and Recycling. These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Home Improvement and your generous contributions. Our Thirty in 30 Grants program awards organizations and localities around the Commonwealth who are helping to address our impact areas of litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, beautification and environmental education.
