Beneath our feet
You
Moving slowly and silently
Beneath our feet
You sound as if you
Wanted something
Cleaner and calmer
In some areas more than others
All you want is to be free
Free of trash.
As you look above your rocky core
You see the ozone
Depleting as if something went wrong
Freeing all the gases we managed
To gather
Letting in heat over our comfort zone
Some wish you no harm
But others refuse to care
Dying beneath us you whisper your apologies
Calmly and quietly you gather
You don’t gather what you need
So you begin to shrivel
Beneath our feet
