The Mend & Share Fair is a free community event where Richmond neighbors can get broken items fixed, swap things they don’t need for things they do, and learn repair skills – all while keeping usable stuff out of landfills.

We’ll have skilled volunteers offering free repairs for bikes, electronics, clothing, jewelry, and small appliances. Workshops will teach basic mending and maintenance skills so people can fix their own things in the future.

Our buy-nothing swap lets people drop off gently used items (clothing, books, household goods, kitchen stuff, toys, electronics, garden supplies) and take home what they need – no money required. We’re also providing recycling stations and some terracycle bins for materials that can’t go in curbside bins.

Plus there will be food trucks, local sustainability organizations tabling, and tours of Shalom Farms next door.

The goal is simple: reduce waste by repairing instead of replacing, share resources within the community, and build connections between neighbors. We’re expecting 200-300 people throughout the day and would love volunteers (free food truck lunch included!).

We’re still seeking volunteers (including menders/repairers, workshop leaders, and general support) raffle donations, and equipment and supplies donations.
