You Can Still Shiver in Virginia in Spring
Our Shiver in Virginia challenge is moving right along! If you haven’t registered yet, go to the registration page now, and we’ll send your one-day free parking pass to any Virginia State Park. If you did register, but haven’t joined the Mission Challenge map page, here’s a link to complete the process. There’s still plenty of time to pick up litter, do good things, and report your efforts before the end of March.
Did I mention that you’ll be eligible for prizes? Congratulations to some of the winners so far:
– Beth H. of Charlottesville: guided kayak trip for two from River Rock Outfitters!
– Ashley U. in North Chesterfield: Family Fun Pass to Norfolk Botanical Gardens!
– Bradford C. in Goodview: DuCard Winery Tasting and set of crystal wine glasses!
– Cindy D. in Mechanicsville: 6 tickets to Nauticus!
And there are more prizes from around the state, including from GoApe Ropes Course, Spearhead Trails Off Road, the Virginia Aquarium, RVA Paddle Sports gift card, Patrick Henry’s Red Hill admission and prize pack; RVA City Lights tour, and Stonehenge Golf and Country Club package and rain barrels from Virginia Lakes & Waterways Association, just to name some of them!
But best of all, there are hundreds of bags of litter and good deeds being done by those who have accepted the challenge! Ann M. picked up trash at Deep Run Creek; Alison S. walked 4.0 miles to clean trash around Lake Rooty in Henrico; Michael B. built a raised bed for his new garden; Meegana H. walked a whopping 23 miles to clean up 21 bags of trash! And a special shout-out to our very own Intern, Macy, who picked up litter on her 5 mile morning walk! Kudos to all of you, and thank you very much.
If you’re not able to get out there and pick up litter or tackle environmental deeds at this time, we’d still appreciate your support with a donation of $20.21 – and we’ll send you that one-day free parking pass to any Virginia State Park!
