Prince George County Wins 30 in Thirty!

The County of Prince George has been awarded a 30 in Thirty Grant of $500 in the Recycling category. The Prince George County Clean Community Day is held annually to dispose of household hazardous waste, tire collection, paper shredding, electronics, and other recyclables or bulky trash items, at no charge to county residents. There is also a litter cleanup through the Adopt-A-Highway program, with volunteers scheduled to be out on many local roads. Funds awarded by Keep Virginia Beautiful will be used to cover the cost of shredding, tire collection, and other expense of the Clean Community Day. The goal of this project is to have as many citizens as possible participate in order to create awareness, and help reduce and recycle in the proper way.

Government, non-profit, civic and service organizations in Virginia were invited to apply for grants for $500 to $1,000 describing how they plan to tackle an environmental concern in their community regarding Litter Prevention, Recycling, Cigarette Litter Prevention, or Community Beautification. Since 2011, we have provided over $178,000 to fund 230 environmental projects and programs all across the Commonwealth, due to the generosity this year of our partners at Altria and Keep America Beautiful.
