Robious Elementary PTA Plants 30 in Thirty

We awarded the Robious Elementary School PTA a $1,000 30 in Thirty grant for their composting project. The PTA will use the grant money to teach children about composting and to beautify the school grounds. They will improve the existing garden beds and install a composter. Gardeners from the area will be brought in to teach the students about gardening techniques. This 30 in Thirty grant will provide the students at Robious Elementary an opportunity to learn outside the classroom and gain knowledge of how various food waste can be recycled into compost instead of going to landfills.

Since 2011, Keep Virginia Beautiful has provided over $145,000 to 195 projects throughout the Commonwealth. This year, we partnered with Altria, Keep America Beautiful, and Deep Run Dance Marathon to make the program possible. Government, non-profit, civic, and service organizations in Virginia were invited to apply for 30 in Thirty grants for $500 to $2,000 describing how they plan to address Litter Prevention, Recycling, Cigarette Litter Prevention, or Beautification in their communities.
