Grayson Highlands Bags 30 in 30

Grayson Highlands State Park in Mouth of Wilson, a State Park managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation, has been awarded a 30 in 30 Grant of $500 in the Litter Prevention category. Our 30 in 30 Grants are made possible by Altria and MeadWestvaco.

The Virginia State Parks system is taking the initiative to ban smoking within 25 feet of entry and exit ways of all park facilities. Funds provided by our 30 in 30 Grant will be used to purchase fourteen cigarette butt urns. This will sustain the prevention of litter that is harmful to the environment, and can potentially become a fire hazard. By acquiring the urns, it will show staff and visitors that Virginia State Parks, and specifically Grayson Highlands State Park, are committed to encouraging a healthy outdoors experience.
