Richard Bland Wins 30 in 30

Richard Bland College has been awarded $750 in seed money through our 30 in 30 Grant Program in the Recycling Category.

Richmond Bland College does not currently have a comprehensive and active recycling program, due to the lack of available recycling receptacles. Funds provided by our 30 in 30 Grant will be used to purchase fifty desk-side recycling bins for classrooms and offices around campus, and at least one 32-gallon bin at each campus building. The College’s People for an Environmentally Aware Campus (PEAC Club) will conduct an annual trash audit and other outreach initiatives that inform the campus community on the difference they are making in their own backyard when they recycle.

Since 2011, we have provided over $90,000 in 30 in 30 Grants to 120 organizations. Government, non-profit and service organizations in Virginia were invited to apply for one of thirty grants for $500, $750 or $1,000 in three different categories: Litter Prevention, Recycling, and Community Beautification. These grants are made possible by Altria and MeadWestvaco.
