Service Kids wins 30 in 30

Service Kids in Progress Inc. in Richmond has been awarded a $750 30 in grant in the Litter Prevention Category. Our Thirty Grants in 30 Days program focuses greater resources and attention on organizations and individual localities throughout the Commonwealth and how they are addressing the issues of litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, beautification and education.

We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of our 30 in 30 grants of $500 to $1,000 in three different categories: Litter Prevention, Recycling, and Community Beautification. These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Charitable & Educational Foundation and MeadWestvaco.

Service Kids in Progress (SKIP) has earned a 30 in 30 grant for many reasons. First, they are an organization that gives to their community. Secondly, they get their youth community members to help their elderly community members. And finally, they believe in litter prevention and education. SKIP is planning a community service day in November, in which the youth will clean-up the litter, leaves, and debris from the yards and neighborhoods of the elderly. We are proud to help enable this organization to purchase clean-up materials and help spread the word about their community event. Imagine what Virginia communities could be like if there was a SKIP in each one!
