Pine Springs Tackles Recycling with Thirty in 30

Pine Springs Elementary School (PSES) in Falls Church has a two-pronged approach to tackling environmental awareness:
First, litter prevention and clean-up and Second, recycling.  The students of PSES have designed their own device for picking up litter on their campus and they would like to build more of these litter-picker-uppers to help clean-up their campus and the surrounding community.  Additionally, they would like to expand their recycling program to include bottles and cans.  PSES currently has a recycling program but they see the need for improvement and more student involvement and awareness.  We would like to give PSES kudos (and $500 in Thirty in 30 Grant money!) for their duel methodology to environmental education and awareness.

We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of our Thirty in 30 Grants of $500 in three different categories:  Beautification, Litter Prevention, and Recycling.  These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation and your continued support.  Our Thirty in 30 Grant program focuses greater resources and attention on organizations and individual localities throughout the Commonwealth and how they are addressing the issues of litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, beautification and education.
