Patrick Springs gets Thirty in 30 Seed Money

Six years ago, Patrick Springs Primary School established their Bowl of Lettuce Community Garden.  This garden has helped educate the students by using hands on farming and organic gardening techniques.  It is also a source of edible produce for much of the surrounding community.  Patrick Springs is a rural area with over a 60% poverty rate and the Bowl of Lettuce Garden is a sustainable food source and learning opportunity for the Patrick Springs community.  The school is need of some additional seating and some seeds for the next growing cycle.  We are honored to provide some “seed” money with a $500 Thirty in 30 Grant to the Bowl of Lettuce Garden so that it can continue to grow and flourish.

Our Thirty in 30 Grant program focuses greater resources and attention on organizations and individual localities throughout the Commonwealth and how they are addressing the issues of litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, beautification and education.  We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of our Thirty in 30 Grants of $500 in three different categories:  Beautification, Litter Prevention, and Recycling.  These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation and your continued support.
