Hidden Pond to get Prettier with Thirty in 30 Award

Over 63,000 people visit the Hidden Pond Nature Center in Springfield annually and they would like to transform an unused/barren 1500 sq ft area of the park into an educational and native plant garden.  This native plant garden addition will serve as a children’s educational classroom, a wildlife habitat, bird & butterfly sanctuary, and a beautiful spot for visitors to walk through.  The garden will feature plants native to Virginia, including informational signage for identification.  This new native garden that Hidden Pond Nature Center will be adding is something that will definitely keep Virginia beautiful and we are proud to sponsor the endeavor with a $500 Thirty in 30 Grant in the Beautification Category.

Our Thirty in 30 Grant program focuses greater resources and attention on organizations and individual localities throughout the Commonwealth and how they are addressing the issues of litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, beautification and education.  We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of our Thirty in 30 grants of $500 in three different categories:  Beautification, Litter Prevention, and Recycling.  These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation and your generous donations, and will be awarded every day in June.
