Giving Garden Foundation gets Thirty in 30!

The Giving Garden Foundation cultivates advocacy for cancer patients residing in Gloucester and Mathews.  We are honored to award them today’s Keep Virginia Beautiful Thirty in 30 Grant in the Recycling category!

In 2008, The Giving Garden Foundation launched the fundraising program, “Together we CAN advocate”.  This program collects and then recycles aluminum cans.  Since they started, they have recycled 40,000 cans and raised over $10,000 for cancer patients.  Currently, they have a pool of 5 plastic containers and signs to collect these cans at various events throughout Gloucester County.  They intend to use the grant money to purchase more bins and more signs.  Additionally, they would like to do some educational printed materials to distribute at events to reach more residents with their recycling/fundraising program.  We are honored to be involved with such a tremendous community action program; not only for its recycling efforts but also for their cancer patient support.

We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of our Thirty in 30 grants of $500 in three different categories:  Beautification, Litter Prevention, and Recycling.  These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation and your continued donations.
