Woodley Hills Elementary Gets Thirty in 30

Woodley Hills Elementary School (WHES) in Alexandria has been awarded a $500 Thirty in 30 Grant in the Beautification category.  WHES has an exciting new approach to starting an outdoor classroom garden.  WHES plans to have each grade level plan, build, plant, and maintain a section of the garden.  What the students are studying in their grade will determine what they build, plant, and incorporate into their garden space.  The younger students will do simpler plants and flowers while older students will learn about composting and growing methods and techniques.  KVB is thrilled to help this project get started and we know that our friends at WHES are keeping Northern Virginia beautiful.

We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of our Thirty in 30 grants of $500 in three different categories:  Beautification, Litter Prevention, and Recycling.  These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Home Improvement and your generous contributions.
