Fries School Wins $1K in Seed Money!

Fries School has been awarded a $1,000 grant in the Community Greening and Beautification Category.  The KVB grant program focuses greater resources and attention on individual localities throughout the Commonwealth and how they are addressing the issues of litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, beautification and education.

This KVB grant will enable Fries School to beautify their school and surrounding area.  A recent building addition to the school has left the students with an environmental/natural deficit.  Therefore, this grant will provide the means by which a healthy, hands on learning, and natural environment can be created through the planting of trees and a central garden.  This new green space will not only beautify the school but provide a learning experience for the students to understand the value of nature and protecting their environment.  The Fries’ School Community is ready and willing to jump right into this green project to make it a huge success now and to benefit its future generations.  For more information on Fries School and their project, please contact Megan Boyer at 276-744-7201.

KVB provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of (30) $1,000 grants in three different categories: 10 grants for plastic bag reduction and recycling, 10 grants for cigarette litter prevention, and 10 grants for community greening and beautification.  These grants are made possible by KVB’s partners, Walmart and Waste Management.
