About: The Virginia Living Museum in Newport News, VA, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day with a week-long Living Green Festival April 16-22. The festival will kick-off April 16 with a lecture by Dr. David Johnson of the Virginia Institute of Marine Science about how plants, animals (an humans) can adapt to living near an ocean that doesn’t respect boundaries on by April 16. A “Nevermore, Dinosaur” poetry slam is planned for Friday night. Saturday will feature environmental exhibiters and vendors and special enrichments for the museum’s animals. Sunday’s focus will be the museum’s conservation projects and partnerships with local organizations. The museum’s annual spring native plant sale will also be held during the weekend. The museum will disseminate its conservation messages through social media activities on Monday and Tuesday. The week will conclude with museum staff participating in service projects throughout the community.
