Staunton River State Park Awarded $750 Beautification Grant

Tucked neatly into the heart of Virginia, about 25 miles from the North Carolina border, Staunton River State Park offers endless opportunities for families to enjoy the outdoors. Staunton River State Park is working diligently to be a home for native pollinators. Two years ago they placed two honey bee hives in the park with the help of a local beekeeper. This has been an opportunity to educate the thousands of visitors about the importance of bees.

With funds awarded by Keep Virginia Beautiful, they will make two large pollinator gardens to attract more bees, butterflies, bats, birds, moths, and other pollinators. These gardens will beautify the park, and help the ecosystem in many important ways. With the help of volunteers and dedicated staff, the gardens will be properly maintained and used for educational programming for park guests.

That sound Bee-utiful to us!
