Fauquier County has been awarded a $1,000 grant in the Plastic Bag Recycling Category. Fauquier County is a mostly rural community of 651 square miles, hundreds of county roads, approximately 67,000 residents and a focus on its biggest litter problem: plastic bags.

Russell County Environmental Control & Recycling has been awarded a $1,000 grant in the Plastic Bag Recycling Category. They will use this grant to promote resource conservation by providing reusable shopping bags and multiple collection points for the recycling of plastic bags.

Powhatan Anti-Litter Council WINS $1,000 Grant

The Powhatan Anti-Litter Council has been awarded a $1,000 grant from Keep Virginia Beautiful in the Cigarette Litter Prevention Category. Powhatan Anti-Litter Council will create a county-wide Cigarette Litter Prevention program through a public awareness campaign about the lack of biodegradability of cigarette butts.

Keep Southwest Virginia Beautiful has been awarded a $1,000 grant in the Cigarette Litter Prevention Category. KSVB plans to utilize grant funds to enhance and to expand its highly successful Cigarette Litter Prevention Program in far Southwest Virginia.

Nottoway County Public Schools WIN $1,000 Grant

Nottoway County Public Schools will use the KVB grant monies two fold. First, students will be a provided a hands on learning experience in the Town of Crewe. Crewe’s main park is experiencing erosion issues because of where it is situated, therefore the students will be given the task of studying the land, researching best erosion control options, ecological balancing with native species, planting their chosen plants and finally long term care for those plants.
