A ranger talk by Ranger LaPrad, about the life, physical habits and characteristics of the black bear. Attention is given to the bear’s place and contribution to nature. A black bear skull, bear claw, a black bear hide complete with head, a bear cub puppet and various photographs are used to demonstrate different aspects of the bear’s behavior. Attendees are allowed to handle and examine the visual aids. The “Be Aware of the Bear” brochure helps educate attendees on how to avoid encounters with bears. An information sheet with coloring page is also provided. A safety message is provided. A 30 minute film, “Seasons of the Bears”, is shown with interpretive information interjected throughout the presentation.
