Buckroe Improvement League Wins 30 in Thirty

We awarded the Buckroe Improvement League in Hampton, a $500 30 in Thirty grant to support their Pet Waste Station. The grant funds will be used to purchase bags for their two Pet Waste Stations near Buckroe Beach. The Pet Waste Stations use approximately 8,000 single-use pet waste collection bags annually.  The use of the bags reduces the amount of pet waste on the beach, boardwalk and park areas, which enhances the beauty of the neighborhood while preventing the pet waste from entering the Chesapeake Bay.

Since 2011, Keep Virginia Beautiful has provided over $145,000 to 195 projects throughout the Commonwealth. This year, we partnered with Altria, Keep America Beautiful, and Deep Run Dance Marathon to make the program possible. Government, non-profit, civic, and service organizations in Virginia were invited to apply for 30 in Thirty grants for $500 to $2,000 describing how they plan to address Litter Prevention, Recycling, Cigarette Litter Prevention, or Beautification in their communities.
