Clean Fairfax Sweeps in 30 in 30

The Clean Fairfax Council has been awarded a 30 in 30 Grant of $500 in the Litter Prevention category. These grants are made possible by Altria and MeadWestvaco.

People in the United States use more than 100 billion single-use plastic bags annually. The majority of these are not recycled and therefore contribute to litter that makes its way into our waterways, oceans, and environment. The goal of the Clean Fairfax Council is litter reduction by promoting the use of durable, mesh, reusable grocery bags at local farmers’ markets. Funds awarded by our 30 in 30 Grant will be used to purchase several hundred mesh bags to be distributed at a farmers’ market in the area.
