Saint James Catholic School Nets 30 in 30

Saint James Catholic School in Falls Church has been awarded a 30 in 30 Grant of $750 in the Community Beautification category. Our 30 in 30 Grant program focuses greater resources and attention on organizations and individual localities throughout the Commonwealth and how they are addressing the issues of litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, beautification and education.

Since 2011, we have provided over $90,000 in 30 in 30 Grants to 120 organizations. Government, non-profit and service organizations in Virginia were invited to apply for one of thirty grants for $500 to $1,000 in three different categories: Litter Prevention, Recycling, and Community Beautification. These grants are made possible by Altria and MeadWestvaco.

Saint James Catholic School is one of the few landmarks that remain on the main street through the city of Falls Church. Having been established a century ago, there is need for enhancement and beautification of the campus. Funding provided by our 30 in 30 Grant will help them install pollinator gardens throughout the grounds, providing valuable green spaces for pollinators in an urban setting. The gardens will provide an excellent experiential learning opportunities for students and those who visit the campus.
