Orange School Scoops up 30 in 30

Since 2011, we have provided over $90,000 in 30 in 30 Grants to 120 organizations. Government, non-profit and service organizations in Virginia were invited to apply for one of thirty grants for $500 to $1,000 in three different categories: Litter Prevention, Recycling, and Community Beautification. These grants are made possible by Altria and MeadWestvaco.

Prospect Heights Middle School in Orange has been awarded a 30 in 30 Grant of $500 in the Community Beautification category. The school will be converting a hill on campus to a native meadow and natural area. The project is designed to address erosion, encourage student and teacher ownership of school areas, and promote native plants. The 6th grade students have measured the area and conducted a soil test. Planting will be coordinated by the Ecoscholars Club and Honor Society over the summer.
