RVA Clean Sweep Sweeps Up 30 in 30

RVA Clean Sweep has been awarded a 30 in 30 Grant of $500 in the Litter Prevention category.

Since 2011, we have provided over $90,000 in 30 in 30 Grants to 120 organizations. Government, non-profit and service organizations in Virginia were invited to apply for one of thirty grants for $500, $750 or $1,000 in three different categories: Litter Prevention, Recycling, and Community Beautification. These grants are made possible by Altria and MeadWestvaco.

Since May 2014, RVA Clean Sweep has conducted 32 clean-ups, logged over 450 volunteer hours, and removed thousands of pounds of litter from Richmond. Their current focus is on the Manchester area, which has a major litter problem and lacks street trash cans.   The funding provided by Keep Virginia Beautiful will be used to purchase trash cans, and attract even more volunteers with a feather banner promoting the monthly cleanups. Between the visibility of the monthly clean-ups and the additional street trash cans, the neighborhood will see a reduction in litter.

Give them a hand! Then check them out and give them a hand.
