Rockbridge Conservation Grabs 30 in 30

The Rockbridge Area Conservation Council in Lexington has been awarded a $1,000 30 in 30 grant in the Recycling Category. Our Thirty Grants in 30 Days program focuses greater resources and attention on organizations and individual localities throughout the Commonwealth and how they are addressing the issues of litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, beautification and education.

We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of our 30 in 30 grants of $500 to $1,000 in three different categories: Litter Prevention, Recycling, and Community Beautification. These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Charitable & Educational Foundation and MeadWestvaco.racc

The Rockbridge Area Conservation Council and the City of Lexington are teaming up to buy and maintain a collection of recycling carts to be used at any and all city festivals and events. This is the exact sort of project that we brought to Richmond just 3 years ago and city was able to keep 25,000 lbs of recyclables out of the landfill in the first year. We are excited to support RACC and the City of Lexington to make a real difference in recycling in their community. Having recycling carts at available for all festivals and events within the city will not only improve the recycling rates, but will help educate their community members and foster a strong environmental impact message that can only lead to more positive outcomes.
