J Michael Lunsford Wins 30 in 30

J. Michael Lunsford Middle School in South Riding (Chantilly) has been awarded a $1000 grant in the Recycling Category. Our Thirty Grants in 30 Days program focuses greater resources and attention on organizations and individual localities throughout the Commonwealth and how they are addressing the issues of litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, beautification and education.

We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of our 30 in 30 grants of $500 to $1,000 in three different categories: Litter Prevention, Recycling, and Community Beautification. These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation and MeadWestvaco.

J. Michael Lunsford Middle School’s  “Lions ROAR for Recycling” project will take their school to the next level of recycling by building awareness and making it easier to recycle in several key locations. The Lions’ PTA and Green Club will be working with the students, staff, custodians, Loudon County, and many community business partners to expand their school’s recycling. We are happy to provide a grant for the Lions to purchase many sturdy recycling bins, and recycling labels and signage to make sure there is no excuse not to recycle and to make it easier for students and staff to recognize the correct bins. Way to be a leader in recycling in your community; Go Lions!
