McClure River to get 30 in 30

The McClure River Restoration Project in Clintwood has been awarded a $500 30 in 30 grant in the Litter Prevention Category. Our 30 Grants in 30 Days  program focuses greater resources and attention on organizations and individual localities throughout the Commonwealth and how they are addressing the issues of litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, beautification and education.

We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of 30 grants of $500 to $1,000 in three different categories: Litter Prevention, Recycling, and Community Beautification. These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation and MeadWestvaco.

The McClure River Restoration Project team is undertaking a huge endeavor to restore 17 miles of their river back to the healthier and more beautiful aquatic habitat of years ago. They will be using many community partners from several surrounding towns and counties to not only clean-up the trash and tires along the McClure banks, but also to educate the public about how valuable their river is to tourism, aquatic life, and overall environmental health. We are proud to support a project that is at the very core of what we were  founded upon over 60 years ago; to keep the trash and litter off of our road and waterways; to keep Virginia as beautiful as it should be.

Our mission at Keep Virginia Beautiful is to engage and unite Virginians to improve our natural and scenic environment through these impact areas: Litter Prevention, Waste Reduction, Recycling, Beautification, and Environmental Education.
