Tidewater Conservation Effort Nets 30 in 30 Grant

Tidewater Soil and Water Conservation District (TSWCD) in Gloucester has been awarded a $500 Thirty in 30 Grant in the Recycling Category.  Batteries are full of toxic chemicals that should never be thrown into an ordinary landfill so TSWCD have decided to educate its residents about proper battery disposal and recycling.  TSWCD has implemented their own battery recycling program and they would like to add additional battery recycling stations throughout Gloucester County.  Furthermore, they believe education is the key to positive behavior change.  Therefore, they will also be distributing educational materials and running several public service announcements to help spread their environmentally sustainable message.

The Keep Virginia Beautiful Thirty in 30 Grant program focuses greater resources and attention on organizations and individual localities throughout the Commonwealth and how they are addressing the issues of litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, beautification and education.  We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of our Thirty in 30 Grants of $500 in three different categories:  Beautification, Litter Prevention, and Recycling.  These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation and your financial donations.
