Manassas Plans Weeks with Thirty in 30 Grant

The City of Manassas Neighborhood Services “Week of Hope” Project is an amazing example of community outreach utilizing all ages, ethnicities, and economics.  Over seven weeks this summer, the “Week of Hope” volunteers and young camp attendees will weed and maintain the Point of Woods community garden, clean-up litter in and around Stonewall Park, do yard work for elderly and disabled residents, help maintain the 9 county school playgrounds, distribute food at the homeless pantry, mentor kids in the Boys and Girls club, and play games with nursing home residents.  The City of Manassas Neighborhood Services really understands what its community needs and then makes it happen.  We are proud to partner with them to help support their “Week of Hope” project with a Thirty in 30 Grant in the Beautification Category.

We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of our Thirty in 30 Grants of $500 in three different categories:  Beautification, Litter Prevention, and Recycling.  These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation and your generous donations.  Our Thirty in 30 Grant program focuses greater resources and attention on organizations and individual localities throughout the Commonwealth and how they are addressing the issues of litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, beautification and education.
