Charlottesville Ministry Uses Thirty in 30 for Garden

Charlottesville Abundant Life Ministries (C.A.L.M.) is giving back to their community in more than one way, as they have created a community garden in which residents can grow their own food – free of charge!  The only problem they have right now is water.  The land they have chosen to establish their community garden on does not have a water source, and so gardeners have had to bring water in jugs from their homes to water their vegetables.  C.A.L.M. wants to help make watering easier for their participants by capturing rain water in barrels through a gutter collection system.  Besides sunlight and soil, water is an essential part of a healthy garden and we are happy to provide a Thirty in 30 Grant of $500 in  the Beautification Category to help C.A.L.M. help their community members sustain their gardens indefinitely.

We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of or Thirty in 30 Grants of $500 in three different categories:  Beautification, Litter Prevention, and Recycling.  These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation and your generous donations.
