SEED gets Seed Money with Thirty in 30 Grant

Sustainable East End Development (SEED) in Richmond was awarded a Thirty in 30 grant for their work on the Church Hill Garden Project; The Roots of Woodsville Community Garden.  Their plans include adding extra seating, a new shaded picnic area, composting bins, construction of several raised beds, and water collection barrels to improve their existing community garden.  This garden not only provides fresh produce to the Woodsville Community, but it also serves as the hub of community dialogue.  Gardening and composting classes are offered in the garden and the local elementary school uses the garden as an outdoor learning classroom.  This is precisely the type of project and gathering point that every community needs and we’re excited to give them a helping hand by providing a Thirty in 30 Grant in the Beautification Category.

We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of our Thirty in 30 grants of $500 in three different categories:  Beautification, Litter Prevention, and Recycling.  These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation and your generous donations.
