Nottoway Middle Plants Thirty in 30

Nottoway Middle School (NMS) in Crewe has been awarded a $500 Thirty in 30 grant in the Beautification Category.  They will be constructing a community garden in the front entrance common area.  This garden will not only be used as an outdoor classroom for the NMS students, but also for the community.  Their plan not only includes construction of planting beds and starting vegetables from seed, but also community partnerships with Master Gardeners, local nurseries and a series of speakers to educate the students and community members about gardening practices.  This is a really well thought out garden that is sure to bring many edibles, but also bring a sense of community pride to Crewe.  We are excited  to award this grant to NMS for their unique and thoughtful community and school garden.

We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of our Thirty in 30 grants of $500 in three different categories:  Beautification, Litter Prevention, and Recycling.  We’re handing these out every day during the Month of June.  These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation and your continued support.
