Stuarts Draft Middle Snags Thirty in 30

Stuarts Draft Middle School intends to start S.A.V.E. (Students Assisting Virginia’s Environment).  The first order of business for S.A.V.E. will be to implement a school-wide paper recycling program.  Currently, the school does not recycle anything on school grounds.  The students determined that paper is the biggest recyclable component to their waste stream, therefore it is the logical first step.  S.A.V.E. will use the Thirty in 30 grant money to purchase 63 recycling bins for classrooms, their library, the copier areas, etc.  Additionally, they believe that education is the key to behavior change, therefore they plan to print out recycling brochures for the students to take home to spread their environmental message.

We are honored to present today’s Thirty in 30 Grant to Stuarts Draft Middle School in the Recycling Category.

We provided the opportunity for government, non-profit and/or service organizations in Virginia to apply for one of our Thirty in 30 grants of $500 in three different categories:  Beautification, Litter Prevention, and Recycling.  These grants are made possible by Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation and your generous support.
